As we have a lot of posts loaded with our test data and hopefully, our customers will have a lot of posts too, displaying the full content on index pages is not appropriate as it takes too much space. If somebody is looking for something, it's really confusing, and it takes valuable time. This is where the excerpt functionality comes to the rescue.
Excerpts can be customized but, by default, they display the first 55 words of the article and ends with
[…], which is called a hellip or an ellipsis symbol.
