In this chapter, I introduce you to the network feature that is built in to the WordPress software. The network feature allows you, the site owner, to add and maintain multiple blogs within one installation of WordPress. This feature was introduced into WordPress as of the 3.0 version — prior to that, if you wanted to run multiple WordPress blogs with one installation of the software, you needed to use different software called WordPress MU (Multi User).In this chapter, you discover how to set up the WordPress network feature, explore settings and configurations, gain an understanding of the Super Admin role, determine which configuration is right for you (do you want subdirectories or subdomains?), and find some great resources to help you on your way.
With the network features enabled, users of your network can run their own sites within your installation of WordPress. They also have access to their own Dashboard with the same options and features as you've read about in the past 14 chapters.
