General-purpose WordPress themes mostly use a standard set of theme files, with the primary intention of providing awesome blog posts and page features. On the other hand, application-specific themes use a lot more application-specific files, which are intended to build application-specific features. These files include application-specific features, business logic, and templates. The advantage of such themes is the ability to use them right away in a site, as opposed to developing these features on top of a generic theme.
