Setting Start Up Options

You can customize several settings in the Word work environment to suit the way you like to work. You can specify start up options (New!) for how you want Word to start including opening files with specified extensions, detecting if Word isn’t the default program for word processing, whether to open e-mail attachments and other uneditable files in reading view, and showing the Start screen when Word starts. Taking a few minutes to change Word’s default setting saves time in the long run.
