Part IV Doing Good while Doing Well

Research indicates that many women engage in social entrepreneurship as a result of their experience in the community as mothers, daughters or organizers. While this tendency is also prevalent among men, previous experience in the household and in service-oriented occupations makes a large impact on women’s entrepreneurship. In this section we will learn about the accomplishments of Rapanui, Chinese, and Peruvian entrepreneurs who saw an opportunity for doing good in their communities while doing well from a business point of view. We will also consider the case of a social entrepreneur in Thailand whose aims were purely not-for-profit.
