Summary

In this chapter, we began by discussing standard actions, which are actions that are built into Windows Installer. Knowing the order and function of these events can be a big help in understanding and debugging the installer. We saw that there are two sequences, InstallUISequence and InstallExecuteSequence, and how we can access them from our WiX markup. We explored how to create custom actions and schedule them into a sequence. We also covered the major points of the Deployment Tools Foundation library.

In the next chapter, we will cover the fundamentals of adding a user interface to help guide users through the install process. We will start by using the dialogs that come with WiX and then branch out to creating our own.
