Shooting Language

Given the incredible number of languages that the people on this planet speak, and the ways in which those languages are written, it would be a shame not to capture the language of a place when photographing it. How words are written can be an immediately recognizable clue about the place you are photographing. Signage in the background, written in sweeping, lyrical Arabic or Mongolian, immediately identifies which part of the world you are in and provides subtle hints about the nature of a place. They are reflections of the exotic nature of your travels, and while exotic alone doesn’t carry an image, it gives your images flavor or texture.
