DELHI, INDIA. Coming out of the Nizamuddin shrine in Delhi on a Lumen Dei Workshop with Matt Brandon and our team, we stopped for chai when this girl walked up to me, fully veiled in her burqa. Not uncommon in this very Islamic part of Delhi, I expected her to put out her hand for candy or to ignore me entirely. So when she threw back her veil, gave me a huge smile, and then hid her laughter behind her hand, I could barely make the image for laughing too hard. This image illustrates something powerful about the smile—that we do it with our eyes and not with our mouths.
