You’ll find it helpful to have a list of some of the standards enacted by the most broadly accepted and used standards group, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE, pronounced “eye-triple-ee”). Here’s a summary of the most important and relevant standards in use today, or those that are likely to become useful and broadly adopted in the near future. Not all of the 802.11 standards are indicated here; instead, this list pertains to the standards you are more likely to hear about in WLAN planning and maintenance discussions.
