Connecting the Wireless Router

The first step to building your wireless home network is to connect the wireless router. The steps to connect the wireless router depend on what you are starting with. Most often you will be starting with a single computer connected to your broadband cable or DSL service, which is typically how the broadband service is required to be installed initially. In this case, do the following:

Step 1. Power off or unplug the cable or DSL modem. It’s a good idea to have the wireless router and PC turned off also at this point.

Step 2. Unplug the Ethernet cable from the back of the PC that is connected to the cable or DSL modem.

Step 3. Connect the Ethernet cable just unplugged to the port on the wireless router marked Internet ...
