Forward-thinking companies are already beginning to respond to the realities of professional women in emerging markets. Although no one company has “cracked the code,” that is, entirely solved the challenges faced in attracting, developing, and advancing women, the examples we uncovered are encouraging on a number of fronts. Many of the most successful programs start locally or at the grass-roots level, rather than attempting a wholesale transfer of initiatives from established markets.
