Controlling Your Startup Programs

Sometimes, after you’ve installed a program, you’ll find that it starts whenever Windows Vista starts. That’s okay if it’s what you want, but if you’d rather have the program start only when you want it to, you can remove it from the list of programs that start automatically when Windows starts. Some of these programs might be in the Startup folder of the Start menu, where you can easily remove them; others are instructed to start from the Windows Registry, an area you probably don’t want to venture into. Fortunately, Windows Defender makes it easy for you to access and modify these program settings.
