User Account Control (UAC) is a security feature included with Windows Vista that helps prevent unauthorized changes to your computer. It works by asking you for an administrator name and password or requiring you to click Continue (depending on what type of account you’re logged on with) before any action is taken that could potentially damage your computer or cause system-wide changes. This applies to all users, even your children and co-workers. With UAC turned on, no one can install software or otherwise change system settings without administrator credentials.
