Verify Connections and Reboot
You should always verify the physical connections and reboot the hardware before going continuing with more extensive troubleshooting. Verifying physical connections includes but is not limited to the following:
Looking for and replacing frayed wires and cables
Making sure Ethernet connections click into place on hubs, switches, routers, and NICs
Verifying wireless cards are properly inserted
Moving wireless access points to a more central location
Making sure a cable is not pinched or damaged
Making sure a cable is not caught under a desk or chair
Verifying NICs are security seated inside the PC tower
Verifying plugs are inserted into working electrical outlets
