Set Up Your Wireless Network

Setting up a wireless network involves a couple of steps. Just go slowly, and keep manufacturer instructions close at hand in case you run into any trouble.

Install a Network Interface Card

Next, you need to install a network interface card (NIC) if your system doesn’t have one. These are sometimes referred to as wireless Ethernet adapter cards. Most newer systems have these built-in; older systems and many laptops will need them installed. To determine whether your system has a network interface card already installed, follow these steps:

  1. Click the Start button .
