Use Media Center Throughout Your Home

We’ve mentioned that you can use Media Center in different parts of the home, and we’ll go into greater detail about how you can do that in Chapter 6. But as you begin setting up Media Center, it’s important to understand that it was designed to be used throughout your entire home.

You don’t need to have multiple PCs with Media Center on them to accomplish this. In fact, you can have a single Media Center PC in, say, your office and then still use Media Center in the family room, bedroom, and kitchen—wherever you want, really. You do this by using a media extender, a separate external component that extends Media Center beyond its original PC location to any other location you choose.
