Understand What Types of Files Are Supported

As you use Media Center, you’ll soon see how useful it is for playing video, music, and picture files. However, it doesn’t support all file types and extensions available today, so we’ll outline the basic file types that Media Center supports here.

Tip

You can add more file types to Media Center if you install the codecs (compression hardware or software) for a different file type. These are available online through a variety of vendors.
