Even the most optimistic system administrator knows that sooner or later she or he will be faced with a major problem. We’ll cover preparing for disasters in depth in Chapter 27, and you should refer to that chapter for information on how to prepare for major problems and how to build a disaster recovery plan to respond quickly and efficiently to major trouble. But as exhilarating as it may be to work through a major problem and successfully recover from it, it’s far better to avoid major problems as much as possible.
