Upgrading Hyper-V

Windows Server 2012 was announced on September 4, 2012, and from then on, all these great features became available to everyone. If you’re still using Hyper-V on Windows Server 2008 R2 or even Windows Server 2008, you probably are planning to upgrade your own hosts to the latest version.

You have various options for the update. Usually, we discourage upgrading operating systems in-place to avoid potential problems. You may also want to change or adopt some of the new features that require a design change anyway, in which case a reinstallation often is the easier and less painful approach.
