Enabling RemoteFX

Starting with Windows Server 2008 R2 and then further enhanced in Windows Server 2012 is RemoteFX, a technology that greatly improves graphical performance for Remote Desktop sessions. Normally when graphics are rendered on a Remote Desktop session (such as the playback of a full-motion video, or display of heavily graphics-based applications), not only does the motherboard CPU have to support the processing of the Remote Desktop sessions, but it also has to handle the rendering of graphics. Therefore in the past, heavy graphics-based applications greatly slowed down the performance of Remote Desktop servers to the point where graphics applications were discouraged from execution on Remote Desktop systems.
