Determining Software Requirements
OpsMgr components can be installed only on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, which is only available in x64 versions. The database for OpsMgr must run on a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 server. The database can be installed on the same server as OpsMgr or on a separate server, a concept that is discussed in more detail in following sections.

At time of publication, OpsMgr 2012 does not support installation of server components on Windows Server 2012. Support for installation of OpsMgr 2012 components on Windows Server 2012 will be supported in the System Center SP1.
