How This Book Is Structured

Our goal in writing this book is to help you set up a working Terminal Services farm using all the pieces in the operating system, while understanding the greater context of the circumstances under which Terminal Services is useful, how it works, and how Windows Server 2008 compares to previous versions. This book has nine chapters:

  • Chapter 1, provides the background of where Terminal Services came from, what it’s for, and how it’s available as both a feature in itself and as a development platform.

  • Chapter 2, discusses key operating system architecture as it relates to Terminal Services, including processor, memory, and disk.
