Summary

This chapter has explained how to manage current Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) sessions using the graphical and command-line tools. Some of the best practices we’ve covered include the following:

  • For the most accurate information across multiple servers, use the command-line tools.

  • For best password security, do not use tscon, because it displays the password on the screen in clear text.

  • If you must forcibly remove a session from a terminal server, use the logoff command rather than resetting the session. Although logoff won’t save user data, it will write profile changes back to the profile server, whereas resetting the session does not.
