Organization of This Book

This book is divided into four parts, corresponding to the four layers of the Department of Defense (DoD) Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) model:

  • The Network Interface Layer. This part contains two chapters describing the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) technologies supported by Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista, and, in particular, how they encapsulate IP datagrams.
