80/20 rule

A guideline that suggests using two Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) servers for any network subnet, a technique called DHCP split-scope, in which the primary DHCP server owns 80 percent of the IP addresses and the secondary owns 20 percent. See DHCP split-scope.

802.1X

An Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standard that provides authenticated network access to Ethernet and 802.11 wireless networks.

802.1X access point

An access server that uses Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.1X authentication, typically either a wireless access point (AP) using 802.1X authentication or an 802.1X-capable switch.
