Although early implementations of WINS developed a reputation for replication problems and database corruption, the WINS server included with Windows Server 2008 is much more reliable. Nonetheless, problems can be introduced during client registrations or WINS replication. The sections that follow describe how to troubleshoot problems with WINS servers (such as records that are not removed correctly, replication problems, and database corruption problems) and with WINS clients (including failed WINS queries and registrations).
