Ongoing Maintenance

WINS servers require some ongoing maintenance. Specifically, you should regularly back up the WINS server database (which probably happens automatically as part of your regular server backup process). To optimize performance, you should regularly compact the WINS database and perform consistency checking. To monitor a WINS server, you can use the WINS console or the Performance Monitor console.
