In this chapter, you saw how DNS is crucial to network communications among machines, and particularly to those who participate in Windows domains. DNS is such a core component of Active Directory that it was important to learn about it in depth before introducing Active Directory itself. In the next chapter, I'll look at how Active Directory works and how it relies on DNS as its foundation.
