Chapter 20. Configuring Server Core for Remote Administration

This chapter provides information and commands concerning the following topics:

Using the Server Core Registry Editor

Enabling access with remote Microsoft Management Consoles (MMCs)

Configuring the firewall to reply to ping

Tip

You should be familiar with Server Core commands when preparing for the 70-642 and 70-643 exams.

Tip

If you’re running Windows Server 2008 R2, you can run sconfig.cmd to configure some of the remote administration settings. It is not available by default on Windows Server 2008, and you’re unlikely to see any test questions on it; however, it’s a good menu-driven method of setting up a Server Core installation.
