Task 4: Design Server Fault Tolerance

Refer to the requirements for fault tolerance that were identified in Steps 1 and 2. Where fault tolerance is required, it can be implemented by providing redundancy in each of the layers of the file server infrastructure:

  • Failover clustering. Failover clustering provides fault tolerance when one server in a cluster is lost. It does require server hardware that supports clustering, which must be marked as "Certified for Windows Server 2008."
