Summary

In this chapter we examined the various activities related to working with networking on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008. We explored setting various items related to the Windows TCP/IP stack, first looking at various scripts that provide the status of network adapters and observing which ones were connected and then which ones contained no values in their properties. We looked at getting the ID of network cards, and learned how to write the information into an Excel spreadsheet. Moving on, we discussed setting a static IP address, how to enable DHCP, and how to configure DNS for name resolution.
