Chapter 9. Windows Phone Sensors

In this chapter, we will look at one of the coolest features that the Windows Phone platform has to offer, namely, sensors. Windows Phone supports multiple sensors and these sensors allow apps to determine the orientation and motion of the device. With sensors, it is possible to develop apps that make the physical device itself an input. Typical uses of these sensors are in games, location-aware apps, and so on. The Windows Phone platform provides APIs to retrieve data from the individual sensors. We will have a brief overview of the following sensors in this chapter:
