Running WMI on Windows NT 4.0

On the surface, the installation process for Windows NT 4.0 is very similar to that for Windows 9x. After it’s installed, however, the WMI system and its behavior are much more akin to Windows 2000 than to the other platforms; this makes configuration considerably simpler and more convenient. After the initial installation and mandatory post-installation reboot, WMI is already configured to run as an automatically-starting service. Furthermore, because Windows NT 4.0 supports a sane notion of authentication, it supports remote connections and is set with default security settings that are adequate for most purposes.
