You can use two file types to customize registry-based entries within a Group Policy Object in Windows Server 2008 and Windows Vista. The old file type, the .adm template, is still available; although it is not the preferred method for customizing your registry-based changes through Group Policy, many companies currently use them, and some might choose to continue doing so.
