Creating File Shortcuts in the Device

When a RAM–based file system is used, the initialized DAT files determine the hierarchy of directories and files. Copying is done when the hierarchy is initialized. Therefore, the same files are located in the \Windows directory where ROM is mapped to and in the memory where they are copied when a file system is initialized in the memory.

The use of file shortcuts instead of copying the actual files enables you to save the memory space when the memory based file system is used. When the end device is created, you can add the necessary shortcuts to the desktop and to the menu ahead of time to make them more accessible for the end user.
