Conclusion

Because many Windows CE devices are often disconnected from the enterprise network, it is essential that updates can be queued on the device ready to be transferred to the enterprise when a connection is made. Microsoft Message Queue provides a reliable and easy-to-use way of providing this functionality and therefore can play an important part in many Windows CE applications.

This chapter has shown how to create queues, send and receive messages, and track sending failures. Although all the sample code shows sending simple text data in the message, it is easy to extend this to transfer binary data or perhaps structured data using XML.
