Introduction

Windows SharePoint Services indexes documents and enables a user to search within a list or library, or within a site and its subsites. The maximum scope of a search in WSS is the site collection. You cannot search across site collections in WSS 3.0—Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 provides that functionality.
