Introduction

Documents can be managed in a document library using folders or metadata (columns). Folders are a familiar metaphor. Views can leverage metadata (columns) to manage the display, sort, filter, grouping, and summary of the contents of a document library.

Note

It is recommended that you use metadata (columns) to organize and manage documents whenever possible.
