Setting Up Access to Your Own Computer

This first section tells you how to set up remote access into your own computer.

If you want to use the Remote Desktop Connection client to access another computer, skip ahead to “Connecting to Other Computers with Remote Desktop,” later in this chapter.

As mentioned previously, incoming Remote Desktop connections are only available on Windows 8 Pro and Enterprise (corporate) versions. If you want to set up remote access into your computer but it runs plain vanilla Windows 8, see the last section in this chapter, which discusses third-party options.
