Tablet Input Methods
Although the Microsoft Surface tablets include a keyboard built into the cover, not all tablets include a keyboard, and you’ll find that you can actually do reasonably well without one. In the following sections, we discuss how to enter text and graphics using alternative input methods. Even with a keyboard there will be times when you may want to use some of the following five methods:
• Use the Windows 8 Touch Keyboard
• Use the On Screen Keyboard
• Use your fingers on a multitouch screen
• Use a stylus or pen to draw
• Use your fingers or a pen with handwriting recognition
Each technique receives some special assists from Windows, as you’ll see.
