Because no centralized or standard system exists for managing usernames and passwords across different websites, users are forced to improvise solutions for managing their various electronic identities. The most rudimentary solutions to this problem involve using the same or similar usernames and passwords for different sites, using usernames and passwords based on some type of mnemonic system, or even cutting and pasting the information from a Word document.
