Editing Advanced Settings for a DOS Application

If you’re experiencing difficulties while running a specific DOS program, find the program file or a shortcut to it. Right-click it and choose Properties.

On 32-bit versions of Windows 8, the first time you try to run a 16-bit DOS or Windows 3.1 program, Windows will prompt you to enable the 16-bit subsystem. There is also a control panel applet that lets you turn the subsystem on or off.
