Taking Control of Your Messages

Mail offers many more options for composing messages than the simple steps outlined in the previous section. Here’s a summary of the other features and techniques you can use to modify your outgoing messages (note we’re assuming here that you have a new message window open):

Choosing the message format—By default, new messages use the HTML format, which means you can format the message text, add images, and use any of the formatting options found on the Message and Insert tabs. Remember, however, that not all systems will transfer the HTML formatting (although most will). If you need to send an unadorned message, select Message, Plain Text and then click OK when Mail asks you to confirm.
