Setting the Feed Update Schedule

Most websites that offer a feed will update it at the same time as, or soon after, the site posts new content. The frequency with which this occurs varies widely: once a day, once a week, several times a day, or even several times an hour.

By default, Internet Explorer checks for an updated feed once per day. Checking once a day is a reasonable schedule for sites that post new content once or twice a day or every couple of days. However, it’s not an efficient schedule for feeds that update much more or much less frequently.
