Determining the Devices That Appear in the Volume Control

By default, the output device you see in the volume control is whatever device your system is currently using to play sounds. If you regularly switch from, say, your PC’s built-in or external speakers to a headset, you might want to display both in the volume control so that you can make adjustments to them at the same time.

To choose the volume control devices, right-click the Volume icon in the taskbar notification area, then click Volume Control Options. In the Volume Control Options dialog box that appears, activate the check box beside each device you want to add to the volume control, as shown in Figure 13.3.
