Apps as Accessories

Windows 8 comes with a number of preinstalled apps that you could consider to be part of the same family as the preinstalled desktop accessories. And the Windows Store app is a gateway to potentially thousands of other downloadable apps, both free and paid. Perhaps as an incentive for you to start looking at the Windows Store, some apps that should really have been preinstalled require you to search for and download them, such as the Remote Desktop app, a free Windows 8 version of the Remote Desktop Connection program that lets you connect to and control other computers.
