ATTRIB: Modifying File and Folder Attributes

A file’s attributes are special codes that indicate the status of the file. There are seven attributes you can work with:

Archive—When this attribute is turned on, it means the file has been modified since it was last backed up.

Hidden—When this attribute is turned on, it means the file doesn’t show up in a DIR listing and isn’t included when you run most command-line tools. For example, if you run DEL *.* in a folder, Windows 8 deletes all the files in that folder, except the hidden files.

Integrity—When this attribute is set, it means the volume is configured with integrity, where data is stored in such a way that it is protected from certain types of file errors. Although technically available ...
