6.1. Start Faster by Logging On Automatically

You can configure your Windows 7 system to start faster by bypassing the Welcome screen and logging on your user account automatically.

When you start your computer, your system first tests various components during the power on self test (POST) routine, and then Windows 7 loads its components into memory. You eventually end up at the Welcome screen, where you must click your user icon (if your system has multiple user accounts) and then type your account password. Only then does Windows 7 finish loading and display the desktop.
