4.3. Restore a Previous Version of a File
If you improperly edit, accidentally delete, or corrupt a file through a system crash, in many cases you can restore a previous version of the file.
Each time you start your computer, Windows 7 takes a "snapshot" of its current contents. As you work on your files throughout the day, Windows 7 keeps track of the changes you make to each file. This gives Windows 7 the capability to reverse the changes you have made to a file by reverting to the version of the file that existed when Windows 7 took its system snapshot. An earlier state of a file is called a previous version.
