The World Wide Web may be the most impressive of the Internet services, but it would not be hard to make the case that e-mail is the most indispensable. E-mail, which most of us have been using for only a few years, leaves us wondering how we ever managed without it. E-mail's position midway between conversation and letter writing makes it ideal for certain types of communication, and rarely can a person be found nowadays who does not rely on it.
